Midlands Golf Week 12th-21st April 2013

Great reasons to get involved

MORE THAN 3,300 would-be golfers seized the opportunity to give the sport a go during Midlands Golf Week 2012. The week-long festival of golf attracted record numbers to take part in a range of 576 activities from taster sessions and fashion shows to coaching programmes and Open Days. Figures released by the England Golf Partnership show that a total of 3,632 participants got involved compared to 1,143 in 2011. We plan to build on this momentum in 2013.

Wyndley LC

29 children and their parents enjoyed trying golf for the first time at an Activity day at Wyndley Leisure Centre in Sutton Coldfield on Thursday 22nd December.

Golf Roots award Angie and Monty

Angie Eadon has won the Gallacher Award from the Golf Foundation which is presented to "a volunteer who, as a direct result of his/her efforts, has made a significant impact in the development of grass roots junior golf". This was presented to Angie on May 25th at Wentworth by Colin Montgomerie.

Julia Burton

The development of golf in Warwickshire is being put to the fore with the appointment of a County Development Officer.

Leamington GC

Leamington & County Golf Club in Warwickshire came up with a unique way of attracting new female members to the club in a scheme started back in 2006. Chair of golf development Angela Eaden takes up the story.
