Help Us Out

Volunteers play a vital role in sport and the contribution made by volunteers in golf at both a club and county level is invaluable.

Warwickshire Golf is always looking for more people to provide additional support in delivering its exciting plans for the development of the game across the county.  This involves helping out at events, such as junior talent assessment and coaching initiatives, taster sessions and helping us spread the word.  You don’t need to be a good golfer to help us out or to have had experience working on a club committee.  We are just looking for people who are enthusiastic about the game who are willing to give a little of their spare time to help us.  Mileage and out of pocket expenses will be paid.

It’s also a great way to meet other like minded people and learn more about what Warwickshire is doing to develop the game.  For further information, please contact Julia Burton, County Development Officer on 07917 131001 or email us using our Contact Us form.

AWARD WINNING VOLUNTEERS...
The role that volunteers play in golf is recognised at a national level and Warwickshire Golf is extremely proud to be working with two of this year’s national award winners:

Mike Leek of Shirley Golf Club in Solihull won the Services to Golf award for men and women. Mike has been a member of his club for 52 years and in that time has forged personal relationships with more than 3,000 disabled children who have experienced golf and has raised over £80,000 for disabled golf provision. He was active on club committees for more than 40 years and is now lifetime president of Shirley Golf Club.

The award for 18-25 Year Old Volunteer of the Year went to Richard Shaw, who is in his final year studying for the PGA supported Applied Golf Management Studies degree course at Birmingham University, where he has set up a golf volunteer team of 16 other students working to develop the game of golf within the Midlands area.

Richard has worked at numerous golf events including volunteering at the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Leicester and assisting with a variety of events for Warwickshire Golf.
